Donnafugata and Sicilian quality wines have reached a new prestigious achievement. As it was announced yesterday in Mendoza, Argentina, the World’s Best Vineyards Academy has placed Donnafugata for the first time in the world’s 50 most popular wineries, in terms of the overall visiting experience and the tastings offered to its customers.
The strict evaluation criteria take into account the quality of the wine, the tasting particularities, the professionality of the hospitality staff as well as the beauty of the winery.
In this year’s Top 50, Donnafugata has been prized for its historical cellars in Marsala; the company has entered the World’s Best Vineyards for the wonderful underground barrique cellar, the authentic Sicilian hospitality style and its original wine tastings: from the sophisticated wine-food pairings to the multisensory experience of music and wine.
“It’s great news for Donnafugata and our beloved island,” commented José and Antonio Rallo. “The Academy has appreciated our distinctive trait focused on the dialogue between wine and art: from the discovery of the territories to the wines, from our artistic labels to music, these elements are all combined to create and unforgettable experience, always captivating for wine tourists visiting us from all over the world.”
“It’s a big accomplishment – points out Francesco Ferreri, who oversees wine tourism at Donnafugata – achieved thanks to a team of competent and passionate people capable of telling Donnafugata’s Sicily: from Mount Etna to the island of Pantelleria, from Contessa Entellina to Vittoria, and up to Marsala’s historical winery. This award encourages us to promote wine culture even more and conveys our vision as a company that aims to excellence in its tours as well as in successful wine tourism events such as Cantine Aperte and Calici di Stelle.”
The 600 judges of the World’s Best Vineyards Academy – wine, travel, and wine tourism experts, coming from 22 different countries – have evaluated the quality of the visiting experience offered by wineries from all over the world, and in 2022 only 3 Italian wineries were recognized with this prestigious award.
